It is with genuine enthusiasm and pride that I write this letter in support of Craig Alperowitz as he seeks a position on the Chatham Township Committee. I’ve had the privilege of working closely with Craig for many years, and I can say without hesitation that he is exactly the kind of person Chatham Township needs—someone who embodies dedication, integrity, teamwork, and true leadership.
My journey with Craig began on the Chatham Emergency Squad, where I had the honor of serving as his crew chief for six years. During this time, I came to know him not just as a volunteer EMT but as someone deeply committed to the well-being of our neighbors. Whether it was a freezing winter night or a sweltering summer afternoon, Craig was always there. His competence in managing emergencies, often under the most challenging circumstances, is a testament to the countless hours he invested in training and practice. But beyond his technical skills, it was Craig’s compassion that truly stood out. Each time we responded to a crisis, I saw the care he took with every individual we served, treating each one as if they were his own family. In those high-pressure moments, Craig’s calm demeanor and collaborative spirit made all the difference, not just for our patients but for our entire team.
Our partnership extended beyond emergency calls. Craig and I also served together on the Squad’s Board of Trustees. It was in these meetings that I witnessed his thoughtful approach to decision making and his unwavering commitment to doing what was best for both the Squad and the broader community. Craig was never one to rush to judgment. He listened, engaged, and worked tirelessly to find solutions that benefited everyone. His ability to build consensus and earn the trust of those around him was—and still is—remarkable.
As someone who has served on the Chatham Township Committee and had the honor of being Mayor, I know what it takes to lead the community. The Township needs someone who is not just competent but also compassionate—someone who understands the importance of working together for the greater good. Craig embodies these qualities in every aspect of his life. His dedication to Chatham Township is already well-proven through his service on the Emergency Squad, and I have no doubt that he will bring the same level of commitment, integrity, and care to his role on the Township Committee.
